The designer of Leopold, Staffan Borseman, nicknamed “Violin doctor” among his master-class pupils, has for a lifetime been leader of several orchestras, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Helsingbog Symphony Orchestra, Royal Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Kammerorchester Tibor Varga, Malmö Opera Symphony Orchestra, the Danish Radio Sinfonietta & Symphony Orchestra.
He acquired a vast expert knowledge in the field of the history of stringed instruments and bows as well as their physical construction and acoustics. He is a passionate admirer, collector and trader of the old French bows and rare stringed instruments.

He had a lot of ideas on how to make the carbon fibre bow better. He decided to develop his own top quality carbon fibre bow brand for his advanced students, professional orchestra and soloist colleagues. He envisioned a carbon fibre bow that would closely mimic the outstanding playability and the excellent sound qualities of the old French master bows.
It was ambitious and not at all an easy task. Out of the intensive creative process including tests of classified hi-tech materials offered by carbon wizards in the USA, the Leopold master bow was born in close cooperation with an important bow maker with carbon fibre experience since 1980. The unique knowledge from two branches - the violin virtuoso together with the experienced bow maker - gave birth to a bow that took many sceptics by surprise.
